SPIRIT DSP: Celebrating 10 Years of Embedded Voice Experience and Announcing Teamspirit(TM)
SPIRIT DSP, a leading provider of embedded voice and communication software products, today celebrates 10 years in global embedded voice software business, and announces the 2nd release of TeamSpirit(TM) multi-point voice conferencing product.
In September 1995, SPIRIT started its embedded voice business by licensing SPIRIT communication software to NEC. Tomio Gotoh-san, outstanding engineer and creator of the first Japanese PC, was impressed by high quality of SPIRIT software and introduced SPIRIT to NEC in 1994. Current NEC chairman Sasaki-san was Gotoh-san boss in the past days. SPIRIT communication software was embedded into products introduced by NEC Semiconductor and NEC Home Electronics to the Japanese market in 1996.
Now, after a decade of constant growth, SPIRIT is a world’s leading provider of embedded voice and communication software products. Today, SPIRIT software is used by people in over 70 countries and is powering over 50 million voice channels worldwide. SPIRIT’s award-winning multi-point full-duplex voice conferencing engine is now inside collaboration solutions lately rolled out by Oracle and Macromedia.
During the last 10 years SPIRIT served over 200 global telecom OEMs and software vendors, including Agere, Atmel, Ericsson, Furuno, HTC, Hyundai, Iwatsu, JRC, Kyocera, LG, Macromedia, Marconi, Namco, NEC, Nortel Networks, Oracle, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Siemens, Tadiran, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba, among many other SPIRIT customers. Global top 7 semiconductor vendors have installed SPIRIT voice and communication software right on their processors. SPIRIT is the biggest eXpressDSP software house in Europe, being judged by the number of processor sockets TI won with 3rd party software (TI processor sales data).
SPIRIT’s 10 year experience in voice now powers SPIRIT’s flagship product – award-winning multi-point full-duplex PC-based voice conferencing engine TeamSpirit(TM) that provides superior voice quality, not only in peer-to-peer talk, but also in multi-point full-duplex conferencing, allowing each person speak up and be heard, even if parties speak simultaneously. Oracle and SPIRIT have been tightly working together on the project for over a year now.

Recent integration of SPIRIT voice products into Macromedia Breeze 5 further strengthens SPIRIT’s leading position on the global voice conferencing engine market. SPIRIT software ensures superior voice quality in this Flash-based enterprise communication, conferencing and online collaboration solution. Macromedia Breeze harnesses the ubiquity of Macromedia Flash Player, which today has over 500 million active users, more that both Skype and MSN Messenger users combined.
