Telecom Lead (India): SPIRIT DSP to showcase multi-point HD video calling
South Korea’s Leading Telecommunications and Mobile Phone Operator Turns to SPIRIT as the Engine Provider to Enable the U+070 Mobile Application with HD-Quality Voice & Video Calling Across All Mobile Devices
SPIRIT DSP has announced that LG U+ (formerly known as LG Telecom) has turned to SPIRIT’s TeamSpirit® Voice&Video Engine Mobile to power HD-quality VVoIP (Voice&Video Over IP) on the company’s popular U+070 Mobile application service. LG U+ is the third largest carriers in South Korea, pioneering many innovative VAS services and serving 9.5 million subscribers.
Driven by a surge in smartphone penetration and a growing breadth of mobile video calling services by major industry players, mobile VVoIP usage is exploding, causing a greater number of service providers to introduce new mobile VVoIP services with rich features and differentiating their service with call quality. According to a new Juniper Research report, the number of mobile video calling users is projected to exceed 130 million by 2016.
LG U+’s U+070 Mobile application was launched at the end of 2011 and is currently available on Android mobile devices, and will soon be available on Apple’s operating systems iOS (5) and other smartphones and tablets. Powered by SPIRIT’s TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine Mobile, U+070 Mobile users can conduct mobile VVoIP calling with a crystal-clear HD-quality experience.
SPIRIT’s engine technology can also be found in many other Korean VVoIP services and VVoIP-enabled devices produced by local OEMs. With the launch of LG U+’s U+070 Mobile service, the Korean market has again validated its breakthrough positions in IP communications.
