BroadSoft Licenses SPIRIT DSP Mobile Video Engine for Use in BroadTouch

BroadSoft, a global provider of software and services, today began licensing the TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine Mobile and PC from SPIRIT DSP, a provider of voice and video over IP engines. This SPIRIT DSP product is to be integrated into BroadSoft’s BroadTouch user application. Prior to this agreement, BroadSoft used Google’s voice engine.

BroadTouch Business Communicator is software that brings together voice, video, instant messaging and presence into a single interface, spanning both mobile and desktop platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Leveraging the BroadWorks application platform and the BroadCloud cloud-based service delivery platform, BroadTouch extends these services straight to the end user.

“We believe SPIRIT’s global agreement with BroadSoft underscores the growing demand from telecommunications providers around the world to offer HD voice and video communications as part of their service package in an effort to retain and gain new subscribers and reduce churn to OTT players,” said Andrew Sviridenko, chairman of SPIRIT DSP, in a statement. “With the help of our global partners, SPIRIT engines are the only real alternative to OTT VoIP-products of Google, Skype and Microsoft. SPIRIT engines give carriers a reliable way to rapidly roll-out their own-branded high quality VVoIP communications products.”

BroadSoft serves more than 500 telecommunications service providers, including 20 of the top 25 service providers in the world, in over 65 countries.

In December, the company added rich communications services (RCS) to its BroadCloud SaaS platform, offering benefits including sped up time to market as well as reduced deployments costs and integration complexity. Businesses can deploy BroadClous RCS in either IMS or non-IMS network environments.

In November, BroadSoft introduced a new global peering program called Xtended Connect, launched in partnership with IntelePeer, an on-demand cloud-based communications services provider. This new program enables routing of all HD voice and video calls between any two BroadWorks-powered users at no charge.
